There are two steps you need to take. Be notified that a package was shipped/delivered. Be notified that it is sitting on your porch/in mailbox.

HOW TO BE NOTIFIED OF SHIPMENT/DELIVERY:
Amazon, can notify you via text message/email when a package is shipped and delivered. To subscribe to this option, access your Amazon account settings and look for the email alerts and then click subscribe. CLICK HERE
The USPS, meanwhile, offers a service called Informed Delivery. Whenever a package is shipped to your address using a USPS tracking number, you can opt to receive email or text notifications indicating delivery status.
Similarly, you can sign up for UPS My Choice and receive all manner of shipping notifications.

PORCH NOTIFICATION
HOW TO BE NOTIFIED THAT THE PACKAGE IS ON YOUR PORCH:
Delivery person – does not ring the doorbell to notify of delivery
A motion detector that automatically rings a doorbell provides the solution. The delivery person is detected on the porch and the doorbell automatically rings inside the house.
You turn it on the day of delivery and off the rest of the time.
